Review of Arnon

This one is from last year, and I have only recently discovered it.  Many thanks to Ms. Smith for her kind words!

J.L. Rowan has created a unique world in Arnon, an Uncial Press release.

Arnon, a common farmer, has taken up arms against Queen Corrin after his family is murdered. With entire villages following him into battle, he fights for their freedom and for those who have fallen. However, everyone has underestimated Corrin and soon they are running for their lives, including the Guardians – a breed of large, telepathic cats who help protect Arnon and his people.

I haven’t read anything by this author previously and was pleasantly surprised. While Fantasy isn’t my usual choice when selecting a book, I thoroughly enjoyed the tale. The scenes were descriptive enough that I felt like I was inside the story. Ms. Rowan brought her characters to life, emotions such as love, anger, and grief filling the pages.

While Arnon is a short read, I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for something a little different. The only thing that could have made it better would have been adding more to the story – I wasn’t ready for it to end.
